Based on the 2021-2022 data, the undergraduate student population at NICC is largely skewed towards women students, with 59.6% of undergraduate students being women and 40.4% being men. The total number of full-time, first-year undergraduate students is 4,013, with 2,391 women and 1,622 men.

The largest ethnic group among the students is White, comprising 88.9% of the undergraduates population , with a total of 3,556 students.

Following behind are Hispanic students, constituting 3.6% of the student body, with 146 students. African American students represent 2.8% of the population, with 111 students, while Mixed race students account for 1.5%, with 59 students. Asian students account for 0.8% of the undergraduate student body, comprising 33 students. Finally, Hawaiian students have the smallest representation at 0.3% , with 14 students.

There is also a notable percentage of students with an unknown race, making up 2.1% of the population, totaling 83 students.
