On the other hand, the graduate student population at RISD is greatly skewed towards women students, with 65.8% of undergraduate students being women and 34.2% being men. The total number of full-time, graduate students is 532, with 350 women and 182 men.

The largest ethnic group among the students is White, comprising 23.5% of the undergraduates population , with a total of 480 students.

Following closely behind are Asian students, constituting 22.6% of the student body, with 461 students. Hispanic students represent 8.5% of the population, with 174 students, while Mixed race students account for 6.3%, with 129 students. African American students account for 4.4% of the undergraduate student body, comprising 89 students.

International students make up 32.8% of the undergraduate population, totaling 670 students.
