Based on the 2021-2022 data, the undergraduate student population at STU is slightly skewed towards women students, with 52.7% of undergraduate students being women and 47.3% being men. The total number of full-time, first-year undergraduate students is 3,608, with 1,903 women and 1,705 men.
On the other hand, the graduate student population at STU is largely skewed towards women students, with 64.1% of undergraduate students being women and 35.9% being men. The total number of full-time, graduate students is 2,313, with 1,482 women and 831 men.

Following behind are African American students, constituting 20.1% of the student body, with 725 students. White students represent 12.1% of the population, with 437 students, while Mixed race students account for 4.1%, with 149 students. Asian students account for 0.9% of the undergraduate student body, comprising 31 students. Finally, Hawaiian students have the smallest representation at 0.1% , with 3 students.
