Based on the 2021-2022 data, the undergraduate student population at UI&U is slightly skewed towards men students, with 53.2% of undergraduate students being men and 46.8% being women. The total number of full-time, first-year undergraduate students is 489, with 229 women and 260 men.
On the other hand, the graduate student population at UI&U is greatly skewed towards women students, with 69.3% of undergraduate students being women and 30.7% being men. The total number of full-time, graduate students is 287, with 199 women and 88 men.

The largest ethnic group among the students is White, comprising 34.8% of the undergraduates population , with a total of 169 students.
Following closely behind are Hispanic students, constituting 31.1% of the student body, with 151 students. African American students represent 15.5% of the population, with 75 students, while Mixed race students account for 2.7%, with 13 students. Asian students account for 2.3% of the undergraduate student body, comprising 11 students. Finally, Hawaiian students have the smallest representation at 0.2% , with 1 students.
